MEMBERSHIP
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Mon Valley Ski Club is a very active club and would like to have members who would like to be active.
The following are the membership requirements for the club:
ATTEND AT LEAST 1 MEMBERSHIP MEETING:
Three yearly meetings are held at 7 Springs, the other meetings are held in Pittsburgh at a central meeting place. The Christmas party and the annual picnic count as meetings also.
ALL MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO WORK AT LEAST 1 EVENT.
Just sign up to work any of the events Mon Valley sponsors or one of the clubs events. Ruth Anne needs lots of volunteers working the door at meetings and social events. Check out the social calendar on the Web and you can help the chair person with one of these events.
A. MEMBERSHIP YEAR
The membership year shall be from October 1 through September 30.
B. MAXIMUM MEMBERSHIP
The total membership, including active and associate members, shall not exceed two hundred fifty (250).
C. DUES AND FEES
Dues are required to be paid no late than November 30 of the membership year. Failure to pay dues by January 1 shall constitute a lack of interest in membership and be cause for expulsion. Members may request, in writing, and extension of time due to exceptional circumstances. The request will be evaluated and voted upon in the normal course of business by the Board. Notification of acceptance or rejection will then be sent to the requesting member.
D. QUALIFICATIONS, OBLIGATIONS
1. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
a. The minimum age shall be 21.
b. Membership in all categories is open only to active snow skiers and snowboarders.
c. Attainment to and/or retainment in any category of membership is open only to those persons who do or are willing to abide by the Constitution and Bylaws of the Club.
d. Members in all categories shall show interest in the welfare of the Club by skiing/boarding, participating in work of the Club, participating in the formal business of the Club and actively participate in promoting the objective of the Club as specified in the Constitution and Bylaws or be declared inactive and subject to expulsion by the Board of Directors.
2. APPLICANT
a. Applicants seeking membership shall obtain sponsorship from an Active member. (The sponsoring member is responsible for notifying the Applicant of all pending meetings and events until they are elevated to or denied Associate status)
b. Shall attend a meeting or function to be introduced to the Board of Directors and have an application card signed by the Officers and Board members.
c. The Applicant must demonstrate interest by attending (1) meeting.
d. Attainment of Associate status is subject to the availability of open positions.
e. Shall pay dues by the next general membership meeting after being notified by the Board that they have been elevated to Associate status.
3. ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATIONS
a. Shall attend a minimum one (1) general membership meetings a work at least one (1) Club event each membership year unless otherwise excused by the Board for exceptional circumstances.
b. Shall not be a member of another ski club except by the discretion of the Board and subject to expulsion if a conflict of interest should arise.
c. May hold office in the Club, elect officers, vote on motions presented, and participate in all Club sponsored events.
d. Shall receive all Club correspondence.
